What Is A Mirena?
A Mirena is the brand name of one type of intra-uterine device (IUD) that releases hormones directly to the uterus. It is a small, soft plastic, T-shaped device which sits in the space inside your uterus. It has strings which, while cut short, protrude from the cervix to allow easy removal at any time. It released hormones locally into the uterus and is also effective for controlling heavy menstrual bleeding in addition to providing contraception.
